Taking care of you through prayer
Over the years, we have discovered that, as an ecclesial association, we must deepen our lay spirituality, which should also be missionary and Vincentian, so that it becomes the foundation of the everyday life of our being and our missionary work. We are convinced that our commitment to Christ, our faith, is the center and driving force of missionary life. Our lay, missionary, and Vincentian foundation is what gives meaning to our way of living. This spirituality is what makes the choice of Mission different from volunteering or aid work.
On the other hand, we have found that the missionary task is very broad; we continuously receive calls from new pastoral sectors and new geographical areas. Therefore, we must adopt the criteria that help us to work in solidarity with the poor, thus clarifying our Vincentian identity, for “our vocation is not to go to a parish, not even to a diocese, but throughout the whole world” (St. Vincent).
We wish to live and remain in the mission as laypeople, in ecclesial communion from the Vincentian Family. We want to feel like members sent by this family and contribute our vitality to the renewal of the charism.
The main task of the Church is evangelization (EN 1,14), to be a sign and sacrament of the Kingdom of God among humanity; a Kingdom of love, freedom, justice, peace… And since the mission is the initial element of evangelization, every follower of Jesus Christ participates in this task, each according to their condition and vocation.
We feel like lay Vincentian missionaries and try to ensure that each of the elements that define our vocation carries enough weight to guide our lives, in response to the call we receive from God. We believe that by attempting to live the three dimensions is how we respond to what God wants from us: We are laypeople and live the missionary identity through docility to the Holy Spirit, living with an attitude of inculturation, supporting and sharing processes of solidarity, and building the life of the Church.
